E-commerce Means buying or selling of products on online services or over the Internet. Electronic commerce draws on technologies such as digital transaction processing, electronic data interchange  inventory management systems, mobile commerce, electronic funds transfer, supply chain management, Internet marketing, and automated data collection systems.

E-commerce businesses may also employ some or all of the followings:-

Types of E-Commerce Models:-
Electronic commerce can be classified into the  four main categories. So the types of  four basic electronic commerce models are as follows:-

1.Business to Business:- Business to Business Transactions. Here the companies are doing business or Transaction with each others. The final consumer are not involved. So the online transactions only involve the  retailers manufacturers, wholesalers, etc. 

2.Business to Consumer:-Business to Consumer Transactions. Here the company will sell their goods and services directly to the consumer. The consumer can browse their websites and look at pictures, products, read reviews. Then they place their orders  and the company ships the goods directly to them. Popular examples are snapdeal ,Amazon, Flipkart, Jabong, etc

3.  Consumer to Consumer:- Consumer to consumer Transactions, where the consumers are direct contact with each other. No company is involved. It helps people sell their personal assets and  goods directly to an interested party. Usually, goods traded are bikes, cars, electronics etc. Quikr, OLX  etc follow this model.

4. Consumer to Business:- Consumer to Business Transaction.  the consumer provides a some service and good to the company. Say for example an IT freelancer who sells and  demos his software to a company. This would be a Consumer to Business.

Advantages of E-Commerce:-

1.E-commerce provides the sellers with a global reached. They remove all the barrier of place (geography). Now  buyers  and  sellers can meet in the virtual world, without the hindrance of locations.

2.Electronic commerce will  lower the transaction cost. It eliminates many fixed costs of maintaining mortar and  brick and shops. This allows the companies to enjoy a higher margin of profit.

3.It provides quick delivery of goods with very little effort  and cost on part of the customer. Customer complaints are also addressed quickly. It also saves cost, time, energy and effort for both the company the consumers.

4.One other great advantage is the convenience it offers to the customers easily with different  offeres. A customer can shop 24×7. The website is work at all times andfunctional,  it does not have working hours like a different shopes.

Disadvantages Of E-Commerce:-
1.Lack of touch or feel of products during online shopping. 
2.E-commerce applications are still evolving and changing rapidly.
3.Sometimes, it becomes difficult to integrate an e-commerce software or website with existing applications or databases.
4.There could be software/hardware compatibility issues, as some e-commerce software may be incompatible with some operating system or any other component.
